Its all about superstition, and as an ex goalie im as superstitious as they come. As a fan i do grow out the playoff beard as well as my hair. i also have the same pair of jeans that r old as dirt and have numerous holes in them, I refer to them as my HOLY jeans. the one game in the playoffs so far i did not where them sure enough was the night my boys lost

Of course! Hockey invented the playoff beard and everyone else stole it (I suppose we stole the rally cap to even things up).

Its a tradition that must be followed. This year is my first playoff beard since I couldn't grow one the last time my team made the playoffs.

now that i can finally grow one that is halfway decent, i did, i started it when the college playoffs started though, i would of shaved it then but i was pretty sure the wings would be in the playoffs so i kept it, you may as well keep it, its all in good fun.

A whole lot of fans do it to support their team. I'm female, so I don't have that option, so I decided that every year after the all star break/olympic break to not get my hair cut until my team gets eliminated. This year will be the first since 2001 that it's almost reached my shoulders...and should the Pens continue, I may have long hair for a change.
